RE5 practice question with a worked answer. This is one of hundreds of FSCA RE5 questions in the RegulatoryExams question bank.
- a) He is wrong, because only a postgraduate qualification in financial planning is ever accepted.
- b) He is right, because any qualification at or above the required NQF level satisfies the requirement.
- c) He is right, provided the degree was awarded by a registered South African university.
- d) He is wrong, because the qualification must be one that the Authority recognises for that category.Correct
Why this is the answer
The competence requirements call for a qualification that appears on the Authority's list of recognised qualifications for the category concerned. The level of an unrelated degree does not make it recognised, wherever it was obtained. Recognised qualifications exist at several levels and are not limited to postgraduate financial planning.
